“Steve was critical to our home renovation project finally getting off the ground.  He came in and designed a beautiful and highly technical pool and spa that resolved the concerns of neighbours and council and persisted with careful documentation to ensure we were finally issued our long-awaited permits.  It was a difficult brief, because of multiple site constraints, including heritage buildings, an existing significant tree we wanted to retain, the need for interaction between the spa and our house, the location near the property boundary, our desire to minimise or avoid the need for underpinning to respond to our neighbours’ concerns and our desire to maintain as much usable space in our small inner suburban backyard as possible.  Steve’s solution exceeded the brief, because it delivered on all of our requirements in a way that is incredibly beautiful and responsive to the architecture of the extension of our house.  The spa, with its unique angular shape and wet-edge, will serve as a water feature that appears to float in the hand-trowelled concrete connected to the dining and living rooms, as well as a relaxing gathering space for 6 adults; while the pool is big enough to keep the kids amused and its partially-raised profile with waterfall wet-edge minimises the need for pool fencing and maintains a strong visual connection with the backyard.  It also has a unique shape that echoes the spa and other architectural features, and includes a fully-automatic integrated cover to manage the leaves from the large tree in our backyard.  As the project nears completion in the coming months we can’t wait to enjoy the finished product.

In light of the fantastic experience we had with Steve we also engaged COS to design a pool (and tennis court, pool house and landscaping) for our beach house.  That project had different challenges, in particular the undulating typography of the site.  Once again, Steve was easy to work with, and produced a beautiful design that responded to our requirements.  As that pool in still in the process of getting permits we are much further away from being able to enjoy it, but we are just as excited about it!”

We have been wanting to build a pool and entertaining area at our holiday home on the Mornington peninsula for some time now and after spending many months with a previous design firm we were still left wanting and searching for our dream outdoor vision. After some research we engaged the services of Steve Taylor of COS Design and the vision and ideas he expressed at our first meeting we immediately became extremely excited about where things were going and engaged his services.

The initial vision was presented to us at their office and we were completely blown away by the 3D presentation and concept that Steve and his team had created. After a few tweaks here and there our dream pool, garden and entertainers’ space had been designed and we could not have been happier with the ideas and the service.  

Moving forward we then obtained town planning permission, engineering and detailed working drawings all through the services and surrounding network of COS Design and the process has been thorough, timely and professional. When we started talking about creating extra space to accommodate our growing teenagers, transforming our outdoor space to better integrate the indoors with the outdoors and building a pool we were lost.  We had some ideas but didn’t know how to bring them together and what the end result could look like. Enter Steve and his team at COS. From our vague ideas Steve has managed to listen and even read between the lines to create a design that we couldn’t ourselves imagine. What we initially thought was going to be an expensive upstairs extension resulted in some minor internal tweaks to our existing layout and a new rumpus room that perfectly integrated the indoors with the outdoors.
