This small inner city courtyard punches well above its weight in terms of functional amenity and visual appeal. The rear entertaining spaces are all built around the raised Aloha Pools plunge pool/large spa where the wet edge doubles as a water feature and the pool fence minimising the interruption of the traditional pool barrier to the tight area. The existing rear terrace was fitted with a full outdoor kitchen, the large deck is covered with the arbor featuring the flexible awning systems and cafe style heaters. This deck hides to large underground water tanks, one being used as a secondary balance tank to the pool spill over. The bamboo border planting and teddy bear magnolias hide the main access to the rear garage from the home and deliver the much needed green relief to the west facing aspect. Raised planters surround the pool with architectural plantings of strelitzias, cycads and the softening of gardenia hedges add flower and fragrance to the courtyard.

With such a compact space, careful, well considered design was required to ensure all amenities were delivered in a visually appealing way while ensuring a sense of openness, space and scale and the results of this project speak volumes.
